Trend Analysis and Simulation of Human Vulnerability Based on Physical Factors of Riverbank Erosion Using RS and GIS

Tayabur Rashid Chowdhury et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the bank erosion pattern and vulnerability in the lower Meghna River in Bangladesh using remote sensing and GIS techniques, and examined 36 years of erosion and accretion through time series images, showing a significant amount of land being submerged by the river with high household vulnerability.

Spatiotemporal change and driving factors of the Eco-Environment quality in the Yangtze River Basin from 2001 to 2019

Xinyue Yang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the overall ecological quality of the Yangtze River Basin has improved, with stable areas predominantly and some regions showing improvement or decline. Different ecological protection policies are necessary for enhancing the stability of the ecosystem, especially in regions like the Hengduan Mountains where ecological quality has declined despite the overall positive trend in the basin.

Soil degradation influences soil bacterial and fungal community diversity in overgrazed alpine meadows of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Lin Dong et al.

Summary: The degradation of alpine meadows in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau caused by overgrazing has led to variations in microbial diversity and functioning. Soil bacterial diversity and richness were significantly lower in highly degraded areas compared to lightly degraded areas, while soil fungal diversity showed no difference among different degradation levels but soil fungal richness decreased significantly from CK to D3. The phyla Actinobacteria, Acidobacteria, and the genus Mortierella were significantly different under the four degradation gradients, indicating the impact of alpine meadow degradation on microbial communities.
