Source apportionment of PM2.5 in Seoul, South Korea and Beijing, China using dispersion normalized PMF

Summary: Severe air pollution in East Asian countries is a result of rapid economic development and urbanization. This study conducted simultaneous ground-based PM2.5 monitoring in Seoul and Beijing throughout 2019 and analyzed the major sources of PM2.5. Nine sources were identified, with common contributors including secondary nitrate, secondary sulfate, mobile emissions, oil combustion, biomass burning, soil, and aged sea salt.

A Study on the Characteristic Variations of Fine Particle in Busan and Ulsan through Particle Extinction Efficiency Analysis

Summary: Using data from Busan and Ulsan from 2015 to 2019, this study calculated the extinction efficiency of fine particles based on PM2.5 mass concentrations and visibility data. The results showed higher extinction efficiency in summer and autumn, as well as when easterly winds dominated. The annual extinction efficiency also demonstrated an increasing trend in both cities.
