Highly Crosslinked Conductive Polymer Nanofibrous Films for High-Rate Solid-State Supercapacitors and Electromagnetic Interference Shielding

Haoran Lai et al.

Summary: With their low cost and unique physicochemical properties, conductive polymer-based film electrodes have gained attention in flexible electronic devices. However, their limited intrinsic conductivity hinders their use in high-rate supercapacitors and high electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. This study explores the rational design of film nanostructures to address this issue. The use of specially treated PEDOT:PSS coated PAN nanofibrous films as current collectors, along with highly crosslinked conductive nanofibrous films (HCC-NFs) based on polyaniline (PANI) or polypyrrole (PPy), results in PANI@PPNF and PPy@PPNF electrodes. PANI@PPNF electrodes exhibit a specific capacitance of 156 mF cm(-2) and retain 41% capacity (64 mF cm(-2)) even at 20 mA cm(-2). Additionally, PANI@PPNFs demonstrate excellent rate performance and cycle stability, as well as high EMI shielding performance. This conductive polymer-based HCC-NF structure provides a promising platform for designing multi-functional flexible electronic devices.

Coloration and Chromatic Sensing Behavior of Electrospun Cellulose Fibers with Curcumin

Minhee Kim et al.

Summary: The effective method of coloration and chromatic sensing of electrospun cellulose fabrics using curcumin as a natural colorant was demonstrated. The high surface area and rough surface morphology of the fibers led to better coloration compared to cotton fibers. The cellulose fibers showed higher and quicker responsiveness to toxic gases due to trapping of dye molecules during deacetylation process.

Electrospun PAN/PANI fiber film with abundant active sites for ultrasensitive trimethylamine detection

Chen Qu et al.

Summary: Trimethylamine (TMA) is a malodorous substance that can cause odor nuisance to residents even at low concentrations. This study designed PAN/PANI fibers with abundant active sites by increasing the saturation difference between PAN and PANI in the precursor solution, resulting in a sensor with ultrahigh sensitivity and excellent repeatability to TMA. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and Raman spectroscopy were used to analyze the effects of increasing PANI content on the fiber morphology and the proportion of PANI molecules on the fiber surface. The results showed that increasing saturation difference is an effective method for improving the sensing performance of electrospun conductive polymer fibers.

Effect of Relative Humidity on the Electrospinning Performance of Regenerated Silk Solution

Bo Kyung Park et al.

Summary: The study found that as the relative humidity increased, the electrospinning rate of silk solution and the fiber diameter of the silk web decreased, leading to the formation of beads. FTIR results showed that the electrospun silk web was partially beta-sheet crystallized, and the relative humidity did not affect the molecular conformation of silk.
