New Promises of Advanced Molecular Recognition: Bioassays, Single Cell Analysis, Cancer Therapy, and Beyond

Shuxin Xu et al.

Summary: The development of biomimetic affinity materials has significant value in both scientific research and practical applications. By using boronic acid chemistry, a series of boronate affinity materials (BAMs) with desired binding properties have been developed. MIPs and aptamers based on BAMs have been designed and prepared for targeting vital biomolecules. These affinity reagents, combined with advanced analytical techniques, have enabled the construction of promising analytical methods for challenging applications, such as targeted proteomics analysis, single cell analysis, and disease diagnostics. Additionally, the targeting capability of nanoscale MIPs has provided a unique approach for the development of innovative nanotherapeutics for cancer treatment.

Nanoparticles and trained immunity: Glimpse into the future

Susana Magadan et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that innate immune cells can exhibit changes in their functional programs after infection or vaccination, leading to trained immunity or innate immune memory, distinct from the specific memory immune response by B and T lymphocytes. The review mainly focuses on myeloid cells in trained immunity, pathogen recognition in evolution, and techniques for studying epigenetic reprogramming and metabolic rewiring. Nanomaterials offer a promising avenue to understand trained immunity and can be modified to modulate immune responses.
