Inverted PTB7:PC70BM bulk heterojunction solar cell device simulations for various inorganic hole transport materials

Chahrazed Dridi et al.

Summary: In this study, inverted PTB7:PC70BM bulk heterojunction solar cells with various inorganic materials as a hole transport layer were simulated using the GPVDM software. The results showed that reducing the HTM thickness improved the solar cell parameters, while the optimum thickness for the active layer was around 90 nm. Cu2O significantly enhanced the electrical parameters compared to PEDOT:PSS at higher thicknesses.

Spray deposited gallium doped zinc oxide (GZO) thin film as the electron transport layer in inverted organic solar cells

Sanjay Kumar Swami et al.

Summary: This study reported the fabrication of highly conducting and transparent gallium doped zinc oxide (GZO) films using electric field-assisted spray deposition, which showed significant improvement in optical, structural, and electrical properties for application in organic photovoltaics with superior device performance. Improved photovoltaic performance was achieved in inverted organic solar cells (IOSCs) fabricated with GZO electron transport layer (ETL) deposited under an applied voltage of 2000V compared to those deposited at 0V.

Optimization of Hole and Electron Transport Layer for Highly Efficient Lead-Free Cs2TiBr6-Based Perovskite Solar Cell

Syed Abdul Moiz

Summary: The methylammonium lead halide solar cell has gained attention due to its lightweight, low cost, and simple fabrication. However, its commercialization is hindered by the toxicity of lead. Cs2TiBr6 has been considered as a lead-free alternative, but it lacks matched hole and electron transport layers, resulting in lower power conversion efficiency. This study determined the ideal parameters for the hole and electron transport layers in Cs2TiBr6-based solar cells through simulation. The highest power conversion efficiency of 20.4% was achieved with optimized parameters. However, no suitable materials were found with the required electronic structure. Therefore, polymer NPB and CeOx were selected as hole and electron transport layers, resulting in a maximum power conversion efficiency of approximately 17.94%.

Design of Dopant and Lead-Free Novel Perovskite Solar Cell for 16.85% Efficiency

Syed Abdul Moiz et al.

Summary: Halide based perovskite solar cells offer high efficiency, low cost, and easy fabrication, but long-term stability and environmentally friendly lead-free applications remain challenges for commercialization. This study proposed and simulated the photovoltaic response of a lead-free Cs2TiBr6 absorber and dopant-free PCBM and NPB transport layers for perovskite solar cells. Through comprehensive optimization and simulation, a maximum power conversion efficiency of up to 16.85% was achieved, slightly better than previous similar perovskite solar cells. This study not only enhances knowledge but also encourages further research on dopant and lead-free perovskite solar cells.
