Gradient descent algorithm to optimize the offshore scale squeeze treatment

Vahid Azari et al.

Summary: This study focuses on optimizing squeeze treatment design for a fixed target lifetime by considering operational constraints, inhibitor concentration, overflush volume, etc. The results show that deploying a smaller inhibitor slug with higher concentration is more effective, and the squeeze lifetime increases with overflush volume. By calculating the squeeze Iso-Lifetime curve and minimizing CPB value, the most optimum squeeze design can be identified for long-term scale inhibitor squeeze treatment strategy.

Review of Phosphorus-Based Polymers for Mineral Scale and Corrosion Control in Oilfield

Yuan Liu et al.

Summary: Production chemistry is crucial in the petroleum industry as it investigates physicochemical changes and their impact on fluid flow in the production system. Mineral scale deposition and metal corrosion are major water-related threats in the industry. Chemical inhibitors, such as phosphorus-based polymers, are commonly used for control. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the synthesis, testing, and field applications of phosphorus-based polymeric inhibitors while outlining future research directions.

Excellent adsorptive performance of novel magnetic nano-adsorbent functionalized with 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid for the removal of volatile organic compounds (BTX) vapors

Sinan Kutluay

Summary: In this study, Fe3O4/AC@SiO2@8HQ5SA nanoparticles were successfully synthesized and applied as an efficient adsorbent for the removal of BTX vapors. The adsorption capacity of Fe3O4/AC@SiO2@8HQ5SA towards BTX vapors was found to be excellent, and the material also demonstrated impressive reusability through multiple adsorption-desorption cycles.

Interparticle Forces of a Native and Encapsulated Metal-Organic Framework and Their Effects on Colloidal Dispersion

E. L. Butler et al.

Summary: This study quantified the van der Waals attractive forces, electric double layer repulsive forces, and steric repulsive forces of native and encapsulated MOFs, predicting suspension properties and dispersion states. MOF with surface-selective modifications showed superior suspension in hydrophobic solvents, which could accelerate the formulation of MOF colloidal suspensions for future works.
