N-Doped Biochar from Lignocellulosic Biomass for Preparation of Adsorbent: Characterization, Kinetics and Application

Jing Li et al.

Summary: In this study, N-doped Medulla tetrapanacis biochar (UBC) with developed micro-pore structures and massive adsorption sites was successfully prepared. It exhibited superior adsorption capacities for methylene blue, congo red, Cu2+, and Pb2+, and retained preferable adsorption performance for dyes and heavy metals after multiple cycles. This research indicates that lignocellulosic biochar has great potential for removing dyes and heavy metals in aqueous solutions.

Calcined Co(II)-Chelated Polyazomethine as Cathode Catalyst of Anion Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

Yu-Wei Cheng et al.

Summary: In this study, a polyazomethine gel crosslinked with Co ions was prepared from the polycondensation between p-phenylene diamine and p-terephthalaldehyde. The gel was calcined to form a Co, N-co-doped carbonaceous matrix, which acted as a cathode catalyst for an anion exchange membrane fuel cell. The Co-N-C catalyst showed a single-atom structure with active Co centers and exhibited high catalytic activity and power density.

Mid-infrared optimized electroreflective device based on PEDOT/PSS

Peiyu Tan et al.

Summary: A new device with adjustable reflective capabilities in the mid-IR is elaborated by optimizing the reflectance performance through specific material combinations and mechanical perforating method. The study shows that adopting thin PEDOT/PSS on a non-porous substrate can achieve large amplitude reflectance regulation, and the mechanical perforating method addresses the issue of ion transport, enhancing the performance of the device.

The Effect of Alkyl Substitution of Novel Imines on Their Supramolecular Organization, towards Photovoltaic Applications

Pawel Nitschke et al.

Summary: Three novel conjugated polyazomethines were synthesized by polycondensation of diamines with two different aldehydes. The effect of supramolecular organization was investigated by partial replacement of solubilizing substituents. The obtained compounds showed good thermal stability and high glass transition temperatures, with X-ray measurements revealing the impact of side chain modifications on molecular planarization. Photovoltaic activity was observed for most compounds in bulk-heterojunction systems.
