Preliminary Investigation on the Geometric Accuracy of 3D Printed Dental Implant Using a Monkey Maxilla Incisor Model

Summary: Additive manufacturing is a viable alternative to conventional manufacturing for metallic implants. This study examines the geometric accuracy of a 3D printed titanium dental implant design compared to a monkey tooth root, finding that the 3D printed implant was 68.70% accurate. Laser powder bed fusion (PBF) fabrication showed a higher level of accuracy at 90.59%. The goal is to develop an accurate workflow methodology for patient-specific 3D-printed dental implants to promote long-term stability and osseointegration.

An In-Vitro Evaluation of Articulation Accuracy for Digitally Milled Models vs. Conventional Gypsum Casts

Summary: This study compared the occlusion derived from conventionally articulated stone casts with digitally articulated quadrant milled models, finding that the use of digitally articulated quadrant model system may result in a loss of accuracy in occlusion, especially for anteriorly located teeth to be restored. Care must be taken to consider the sources of inaccuracies in the digital workflow to minimize them for a more efficient restorative process.
