High-Density Horizontal Stacking of Chondrocytes via the Synergy of Biocompatible Magnetic Gelatin Nanocarriers and Internal Magnetic Navigation for Enhancing Cartilage Repair

Shan-Wei Yang et al.

Summary: The study explores the use of magnetic amphiphilic-gelatin nanocarrier to enhance the repair effect of magnetized chondrocytes on osteoarthritis (OA) cartilage. Magnetized chondrocytes can be rapidly guided along the magnetic force line to form cellular amassment, and the adhesive peptide in the carrier promotes the interaction among cells, further forming cellular stacking. In animal models, magnetized chondrocytes can be guided to the superficial zone of damaged cartilage using the internal magnetic field and the magnetic carrier, forming cellular stacking. In vivo results show higher levels of N-sulfated-glycosaminoglycans and collagen II in the group of magnetized cells with magnetic guiding, and smooth closure of OA cartilage defects after 8 weeks of implantation.

Quercetin inhibits fibroblasts proliferation and reduces surgery-induced epidural fibrosis via the autophagy-mediated PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway

Yile Cao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the function and mechanism of autophagy induced by quercetin in the prevention of epidural fibrosis. The results confirmed that quercetin could reduce epidural fibrosis by inducing autophagy and inhibiting fibroblast proliferation. The specific signaling pathway involved in this process may be the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway.

Hypertrophic scars and keloids: Overview of the evidence and practical guide for differentiating between these abnormal scars

Grace C. Limandjaja et al.

Summary: Hypertrophic scars and keloids, although similar in many aspects, differ mainly in the extent of growth beyond the original wound for keloids. The distinction between the two is mostly qualitative, with histopathological differences not being as straightforward. Many similarities exist between the two, but there are also fundamental differences that suggest they should still be treated as separate entities until new findings convincingly prove otherwise.

Advances in Skin Wound and Scar Repair by Polymer Scaffolds

Shuiqing Zhou et al.

Summary: This review explores the functions and roles of multiple polymer scaffolds in wound healing and scar inhibition, including polysaccharide and protein scaffolds acting as templates for cell adhesion and migration, as well as stem cell-seeded and growth factors-loaded scaffolds providing bioactive substances. Special emphasis is placed on scaffolds that continuously release oxygen, which significantly accelerates the vascularization process and offers hope for scarless healing.
