Predictors of Intimate Partner Violence Victimization by Multiple Partners Over a Period of 8 Years

Summary: The study found that for women who had experienced IPV, psychological abuse was associated with increased risk of reengagement, while the severity of posttraumatic reexperiencing symptoms was associated with decreased reengagement. Depressive symptoms were also significantly associated with reengagement, with lower levels of positive affect and increased somatic symptoms being linked to increased risk of reengagement.

Computerized Intervention in Primary Care for Women Veterans with Sexual Assault Histories and Psychosocial Health Risks: a Randomized Clinical Trial

Summary: The study tested a computerized intervention in primary care to reduce health risks and increase mental health treatment utilization among women with histories of sexual assault. Results showed that the intervention significantly increased treatment utilization among women with a history of sexual assault. Recovering from Intimate Partner Violence through Strengths and Empowerment (RISE): Initial Evaluation of the Clinical Effects of RISE Administered in Routine Care in the US Veterans Health Administration

Summary: Intimate partner violence is a common concern among military Veterans that negatively impacts health. The United States' Veterans Health Administration has launched a national IPV Assistance Program to provide comprehensive services to Veterans and their families who experience IPV. The pilot implementation of the intervention Recovering from IPV through Strengths and Empowerment was found to significantly improve self-efficacy, depression, and valued living among patients, with high treatment satisfaction. The findings demonstrate the feasibility, acceptability, and clinical utility of the intervention in routine care and provide preliminary support for its effectiveness with men.

Summary: The computerized intervention Safe and Healthy Experiences (SHE) showed promising results in reducing health risks related to hazardous drinking, intimate partner violence, and post-traumatic stress disorder among women veterans with a history of sexual trauma. Participants reported high satisfaction with the intervention and computerized delivery, and demonstrated reductions in these health risks at 4 months. SHE appears to be satisfactory, feasible, and potentially beneficial to women veterans.
