Measuring CO2 emissions performance of China's construction industry: A global Malmquist index analysis

Summary: Rapid urbanization in China has turned the construction sector into a major industry for CO2 emissions. A global Malmquist CO2 emissions performance index (GMCPI) has been proposed to evaluate CO2 emission performance of multi-input and multi-output production processes. The study found an overall improvement of 13.6% in CO2 emissions performance in China's construction industry from 2004 to 2016, with technological progress playing a key role. Regional differences in CO2 emissions performance were observed, with the eastern region showing the best performance. Reasons contributing to different levels of CO2 emissions performance in different provinces were explained based on the decomposition of GMCPI.

The resilient moduli of the waste materials can be enhanced through the use of stabilizers, longer curing duration, and greater confining pressure. Life cycle assessment for carbon emission impact analysis for the renovation of old residential areas

Assessment of carbon emissions of building interior decoration and renovation waste disposal in the fast-growing Greater Bay Area, China

Summary: Continuing urbanization and an improved lifestyle have led to a high demand for building floor area, resulting in a rapid increase in interior decoration and renovation activities and the generation of a large quantity of decoration and renovation waste (DRW). Despite this, China has not adequately addressed DRW management. A study in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) characterized the generation, flows, management, and environmental impacts of DRW from commercial housing, showing an increase in DRW production from 0.16 million metric tons in 1999 to 2.6 million metric tons in 2018. Improving recycling rates and promoting prefabricated decoration could help tackle the DRW problem effectively.

Quantifying the embodied carbon saving potential of recycling construction and demolition waste in the Greater Bay Area, China: Status quo and future scenarios

The methods proposed in this study can help achieve China's 2060 carbon neutral goal and are applicable to regions worldwide with insufficient C&D waste data.
