Why Women in Ethiopia Give Birth at Home? A Systematic Review of Literature

Seifu Kebede Weldegiorgis et al.

Summary: The study reviewed reasons for home delivery preference in Ethiopia, finding that factors such as perceived poor quality of service and distance to facilities influenced women's choice. Socio-demographic factors like maternal age, ANC visits, maternal education, and distance to facilities were significantly associated with homebirth. Despite the importance of skilled birth attendants, unattended homebirths remained high, indicating a need to address socio-demographic factors to improve maternal health services.
