Prevention and management of peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis: A systematic review of outcome measures used in clinical studies in the last 10 years

Summary: This study evaluated outcome measures, assessment methods, and analysis in clinical studies on the prevention and management of peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. The findings showed that probing pocket depth and bleeding/suppuration on probing were commonly reported, while composite outcomes, adverse events, and patient-reported outcomes were infrequently described.

Clinical outcomes of dental implants in patients with and without history of periodontitis: A 20-year prospective study

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the 20-year clinical outcomes of tissue-level implants in patients with a history of periodontitis and in periodontally healthy patients. The results showed that tissue-level implants, placed after comprehensive periodontal therapy and supportive periodontal care, had favorable long-term results. However, patients with a history of periodontitis who did not comply with supportive periodontal care were at higher risk of complications and implant loss.

Diagnosis of peri-implantitis in the absence of baseline data: A diagnostic accuracy study

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of clinical and radiographic evaluations made at a single time point during follow-up. The bone levels observed at 9 years were highly accurate in identifying pronounced bone loss. In the absence of baseline documentation, a secondary case definition based on clinical findings provided the best overall diagnostic accuracy in identifying peri-implantitis cases.
