Summary: This study evaluated the potential of SCATSAT-1 satellite for quantifying spatiotemporal variability in snow cover area over the Himalayas in India. The results showed that the satellite is suitable for estimating the magnitude of snow extent with an accuracy between 83.01% and 95.33%.
