The findings showed that the pandemic led to increased prevalence of major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders, with females and younger age groups being more affected. The pandemic has created an increased urgency to strengthen mental health systems in most countries and mitigation strategies are needed to address the burden of these mental disorders.
