The merging of bandgaps based on locally resonant plate with periodically attached stepped-frequency resonators

Qiaojiao Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a LR plate with stepped-frequency resonators (SFR) for achieving broadband vibration suppression at low frequencies, revealing the merging effects of bandgaps based on SFR. Parametric analysis shows that increasing the mass ratio or frequency spacing can increase the bandwidth of the merged bandgap, and numerical validation confirms that the LR plate with six resonators of SFR can provide broadband attenuation performance covering a wide frequency range.

An improved method for bandgap calculation of a locally resonant plate with multi-periodic of multiple degree-of-freedom resonators

Qiaojiao Li et al.

Summary: An improved plane wave expansion method based on the governing equations of a lattice unit cell is developed to calculate the band structures of a locally resonant plate. The analysis of bandgap properties of LR plate systems shows good agreement with classical theory results, and the improved methods exhibit excellent efficiency and applicability for systems with complex attachments. Additionally, when considering resonator damping, the EPWE method can observe the merging of multiple bandgaps, providing a useful tool for analyzing band structures for broadband vibration suppression in LR plates with merged bandgaps.
