The role of endoscopic endonasal surgery in the management of prolactinomas based on their invasiveness into the cavernous sinus

Hussam Abou-Al-Shaar et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed the surgical management of prolactinomas through the endoscopic endonasal approach. The results showed that cavernous sinus invasion impacted the remission and control rates, but the approach remained a safe and effective modality for properly selected patients.

Determinants of Surgical Remission in Prolactinomas: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Kyla Wright et al.

Summary: The study found that patients with prolactin-secreting tumors are more likely to achieve postoperative and follow-up remission if they have small, noninvasive tumors and have not previously received treatment. Conversely, larger tumors with extrasellar or suprasellar extension, as well as tumors with cavernous sinus invasion, are associated with lower remission rates.
