A propensity-adjusted comparison of endoscopic endonasal surgery versus transcranial microsurgery for pediatric craniopharyngioma: a single-center study

Jie Wu et al.

Summary: This study compared postoperative complications and surgical outcomes between endoscopic endonasal surgery (EES) and transcranial microsurgery (TCM) for pediatric craniopharyngiomas. The results showed that compared to TCM, EES had superior visual outcomes, better endocrinological and hypothalamic function, and less BMI gain. However, the rates of gross-total resection, recurrence, and perioperative complications were comparable between the two surgical modalities.

Approach selection and outcomes of craniopharyngioma resection: a single-institute study

Cao Lei et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed data of 182 patients with primary craniopharyngiomas and found that new-onset hypopituitarism and diabetes insipidus were common complications.
