Numerical study on magnetohydrodynamic boundary layer flow of the Carreau fluid in a porous medium: the Chebyshev collocation method

Ramesh B. Kudenatti et al.

Summary: The study investigates the hydrodynamics of Carreau fluid in the boundary layer flow over a moving wedge in a porous medium with an applied magnetic field. By reducing the governing equations using similarity transformations, it is found that there are non-unique solutions in the boundary-layer for the same system parameters, and the wall shear stress increases as the velocity ratio parameter decreases. Linear stability analysis helps determine physically realizable solutions, and increasing magnetic field and permeability effects lead to unique and stable solutions in the system.

Experimental and numerical mass transfer study of carbon dioxide absorption using Al2O3/water nanofluid in wetted wall column

Hamed Rashidi et al.

Summary: This study investigated CO2 absorption by Al2O3/water nanofluid in a laboratory-scale wetted wall column, examining the effects of nanoparticle volume fraction, fluid flow rate, and temperature on mass transfer coefficient. Experimental results showed that the mass transfer coefficient of nanofluid is higher than that of base fluid water, and increases with nanoparticle concentration, temperature, and flow rate. Simulation using computational fluid dynamics showed good agreement with experimental results, demonstrating an increase in dimensionless CO2 concentration in the film layer with higher nanoparticle volume fraction and temperature, while a decrease was observed with increased fluid flow rate.

Summary: The goal of this research is to investigate the influences of magnetic field and nonlinear radiation on stagnation point flow of nanofluid past a stretching surface. The study considers the effects of Joule heating and viscous dissipation and utilizes the spectral relaxation numerical approach to solve the governing equations. The results show that increasing Prandtl number reduces the temperature profile, while increasing Lewis number raises the nanofluid's temperature distribution. Additionally, the strength of the magnetic field affects both the temperature and concentration of the nanofluid.

Finite Difference Computation of Au-Cu/Magneto-Bio-Hybrid Nanofluid Flow in an Inclined Uneven Stenosis Artery

H. Thameem Basha et al.

Summary: This study investigates the fluid transport behavior of gold-copper/biomagnetic blood hybrid nanofluid in an inclined irregular stenosis artery, considering varying viscosity and Lorentz force. The results show that Lorentz force significantly reduces the velocity of the hybrid nanofluid, while increasing Grashof number enhances blood flow rate. Increasing the angle parameter reduces the resistance impedance on the wall, and hybrid nanoparticles have higher wall shear stress than copper nanoparticles. Heat transfer rate increases with increasing nanoparticle concentration, and the applied Lorentz force significantly reduces the flow rate of the hybrid and unitary nanofluid. The hybrid nanoparticles exhibit a superior rate of heat transfer compared to copper nanoparticles in a blood base fluid, and the blood base fluid has a lower temperature.

Numerical study for bio-convection flow of tangent hyperbolic nanofluid over a Riga plate with activation energy

Hassan Waqas et al.

Summary: This paper discusses a mathematical model for the two-dimensional flow of tangent hyperbolic nanofluid over a Riga plate in the presence of gyrotactic microorganisms. The governing non-linear partial differential equations are transformed into a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations using a set of pertinent transformations. The numerical solutions of the dimensionless equations are obtained using the bvp4c technique, and the numerical results are presented using the bvp4c tool in MATLAB. The graphical representations show the effects of various parameters on concentration, velocity, temperature, and motile microorganism profiles. The study concludes that increasing the variations of mixed convection parameters enhances the velocity of the tangent hyperbolic fluid, a larger Prandtl number reduces the temperature of the nanofluid, the concentration of nano particles is enhanced by growing activation energy parameters, and the microorganisms profile is improved with the first-order velocity slip parameter while decaying for bio-convection Lewis number.
