Actual Visual Acuity Demands in the Classroom

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the actual visual requirements in kindergarten through grade 12 classrooms in New York City, finding differences in logMAR and contrast sensitivity. By measuring classroom dimensions and text contrast, logMAR values for different seating locations were determined, showing significant variations in logMAR requirements and contrast in different seating positions and classrooms. The research illustrates the importance of logMAR and contrast sensitivity in the classroom, providing guidance for developing standards for classroom visual content.
