Risk of migraine contributed by genetic polymorphisms of ANKDD1B gene: a case-control study based on Chinese Han population

Tianxiao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study identified a specific variant in the ANKDD1B gene that is significantly associated with the risk of migraine, with effects on gene expression levels. Genotypic analysis revealed a dose-dependent pattern for this variant. The findings provide evidence for the genetic polymorphisms related to migraine risk in the Chinese Han population.

DLRAPom: a hybrid pipeline of Optimized XGBoost-guided integrative multiomics analysis for identifying targetable disease-related lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory axes

Chen Shen et al.

Summary: The lack of a reliable and easy-to-operate screening pipeline for disease-related noncoding RNA regulatory axis is a problem that needs urgent solution. In this study, we designed a hybrid pipeline called DLRAPom, which combines conventional bioinformatics analysis, experimental validation, and a novel machine learning model to identify risk biomarkers and disease-related noncoding RNA regulatory axes. Using the pipeline, we predicted several risk protein-coding biomarkers and regulatory axes related to gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Overall, DLRAPom is a flexible pipeline that can contribute to molecular pathogenesis research and provide potential candidates for functional research on disease pathogenesis.

Integrative omics of schizophrenia: from genetic determinants to clinical classification and risk prediction

Fanglin Guan et al.

Summary: Schizophrenia is a debilitating neuropsychiatric disorder with high heritability and complex inheritance. Various Omics technologies have been applied to study the pathogenesis of schizophrenia. Integration of multi-Omics data has emerged as a crucial approach to provide a more comprehensive view of biological complexity and improve clinical assessments and interventions.

The Vulnerability to Methamphetamine Dependence and Genetics: A Case-Control Study Focusing on Genetic Polymorphisms at Chromosomal Region 5q31.3

Jing Xiao et al.

Summary: In this study, the contribution of HDAC3 to the vulnerability to METH dependence in the Han Chinese population was investigated. The results showed that the genetic polymorphism rs14251 located at 5q31.3 was significantly associated with the vulnerability to METH dependence.

Evaluation of Adenosine A2A receptor gene polymorphisms as risk factors of methamphetamine use disorder susceptibility and predictors of craving degree

Huiying Wang et al.

Summary: This study explored the susceptibility of the ADORA2A gene to methamphetamine use disorder (MUD) and craving degree. The results showed that a specific SNP of the ADORA2A gene was significantly associated with MUD and this association was replicated in different samples. Additionally, there was a significant correlation between serum levels of ADORA2A and the genotype of this SNP. Furthermore, the craving scores in patients with MUD were strongly correlated with the genotype of this SNP.

RNA binding protein GNL3 up-regulates IL24 and PTN to promote the development of osteoarthritis

Zhen Zhu et al.

Summary: Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative disease in the elderly, and current treatments can only alleviate symptoms. Studies have found that GNL3, IL24, and PTN genes are upregulated in OA patients, making them potential therapeutic targets for the future.

Common Variants in NUS1 and GP2 Genes Contributed to the Risk of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

Tianxiao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that NUS1 and GP2 genes are associated with the susceptibility to gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in Chinese Han population. Two SNPs were significantly associated with the risk of GDM, as well as related biomedical indexes. Differences in serum levels of protein NUS1 and GP2 were identified among groups with different genotypes of the SNPs.
