Influence of Process Parameters on Filling and Feeding Capacity during High-Pressure Die-Casting Process

Tingli Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of process parameters on melt filling and feeding capacity in high-pressure die casting (HPDC) through numerical simulations and orthogonal experiments. The results reveal that the piston velocity of the fast stage has the most significant impact, with increased velocity leading to improved filling and feeding capacity. It is important to maintain an appropriate melt injection temperature to avoid gas porosity and a moderate piston velocity in the slow stage to prevent air entrainment. The pressure maintaining time has a negligible effect due to premature ingate solidification. Recommended process parameters include a melt injection temperature of 660-680 degrees C, a piston velocity of 0.1-0.2 m/s in the slow stage, and a piston velocity of 2.4-3.2 m/s in the fast stage.
