State of the Art in Gold Nanoparticle Synthesisation via Pulsed Laser Ablation in Liquid and Its Characterisation for Molecular Imaging: A Review

Siti Zaleha Mat Isa et al.

Summary: With recent advances in nanotechnology, gold nanoparticles have been increasingly used as drug carriers in molecular imaging for cancer treatment. However, conventional synthesis methods have limitations in terms of chemical contamination and energy consumption. Therefore, developing eco-friendly synthesis methods for gold nanoparticles is of great importance.

Using femtosecond laser pulses to investigate the nonlinear optical properties of silver nanoparticles colloids in distilled water synthesized by laser ablation

Samar Mamdouh et al.

Summary: The nonlinear optical properties of silver nanoparticles colloids in distilled water were investigated using the Z-scan technique. The study found that increasing the laser ablation energy fluence resulted in smaller nanoparticle size and larger bandgap energy, while the nonlinear absorption coefficient and nonlinear refractive index decreased.

Using femtosecond laser pulses to study the nonlinear optical properties of rhodamine 6G dissolved in water

Hanan Ahmed et al.

Summary: Using the Z-scan method, the nonlinear absorption coefficient of rhodamine 6G dissolved in water was studied. Water exhibited saturable absorption at high power and a transition to reverse saturable absorption was observed when R6G was added. The nonlinear absorption coefficient of the R6G solution was found to be sensitive to excitation wavelength, power, and concentration.

The effects of different parameters and interaction angles of a 532 nm pulsed Nd: YAG laser on the properties of laser-ablated silver nanoparticles

Ahmed Samir et al.

Summary: Laser ablation in liquids is utilized to create contaminant-free colloidal nanoparticles with unique properties, with factors such as laser energy, wavelength, ablation time, and material properties impacting the absorbance and control of size and shape. The production of silver nanoparticles' colloids in distilled water by laser ablation from a bulk silver metal was studied, showing different effects on the nanoparticles based on varying ablation times, energies, and laser incidence angles. The size distribution of the nanoparticles shifted towards the quantum size range with increase of laser ablation time, reaching an average size of 7.5 nm at 30 min ablation time with a laser pulse energy of 100 mJ.

Third-order nonlinear optical effects of silver nanoparticles and third harmonic generation from their plasma plumes

Srinivasa Rao Konda et al.

Summary: The study investigated the third-order nonlinear optical properties of silver nanoparticles of different sizes dissolved in various solvents. It was observed that nanoparticles smaller or larger than 30 nm showed different absorption characteristics. The suspensions of silver nanoparticles exhibited a self-focusing effect, and plasmas containing nanoparticles had higher third harmonic generation efficiency compared to bulk silver plasmas.

Wavelength-Dependent Optical Nonlinear Absorption of Au-Ag Nanoparticles

Jun Wang et al.

Summary: Experimental results show that Au-Ag nanoparticles exhibit saturated absorption and reverse saturation absorption under different laser intensities. The transition between these two absorption states is explained by the local surface plasmon resonance effect, bleaching of ground state plasmon, and free carrier absorption theory.
