A preliminary study of aeolian sand-cement-modified gasification slag-paste backfill: Fluidity, microstructure, and leaching risks

Jie Xin et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel model of aeolian sand-cement-modified gasification slag-paste backfill (ACGPB) to realize low-cost green backfill mining. The model allows for the safe disposal and resource utilization of hazardous solid wastes. Experimental tests were conducted to explore the mechanism of ACGPB with different activator types and dosages. The results showed that the activator type and dosage have an impact on the properties of ACGPB, and the mechanical properties of all recipes met the requirements. The concentrations of heavy metals remained within the specified range. The microstructure of ACGPB was analyzed using various methods. The research provides a creative approach for the resource utilization of solid waste.

Influence of Fineness Levels and Dosages of Light-Burned Dolomite on Portland Cement Performance

Wenxiu Jiao et al.

Summary: The study aims to investigate the impact of light-burned dolomite powders (LBD) on ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and assess the influence of LBD dosage and fineness levels on the mechanical and hydration properties of OPC. Results show that the flexural and compressive strength of LBD/OPC samples are higher than those of the reference sample. In particular, the B-LBD dosage with 1.5-2.5 wt% significantly improves the strength of cement-based materials. The main mineral components of LBD, MgO and CaCO3, react with water and C3A to form Mg(OH)2 and hydrated calcium carboaluminate, respectively, preventing the conversion of AFt to AFm.

Pore gradation effect on Portland cement and geopolymer concretes

Ehsan Negahban et al.

Summary: This study investigated the microstructural characteristics of geopolymer concrete and ordinary Portland cement concrete, revealing their correlation with strength and durability. The results showed that the pore volume of geopolymer concrete was significantly higher than that of ordinary Portland cement, and variations in parameters could control the mechanical properties and durability of the materials.
