Fabricating SnO2 and Cu2O anchored on g-C3N4 nanocomposites for superior photocatalytic various organic pollutants degradation under simulated sunlight exposure

S. Vignesh et al.

Summary: The g-C3N4/SnO2-Cu2O composite photocatalysts showed superior visible-light photo-degradation performance for methylene blue and rhodamine B dyes, with significantly higher degradation rate constants compared to pristine g-C3N4. The effective construction of the composite, with enhanced visible-light absorption and charge separation ability, contributed to its beneficial photocatalytic properties. This study provides a facile and promising approach for developing visible-light active photocatalysts for environmental protection applications.

Fabrication of BiOI nanosheets with exposed (001) and (110) facets with different methods for photocatalytic oxidation elemental mercury

Yixuan Xiao et al.

Summary: The BiOI nanosheets with dominantly exposed (001) facets exhibited better photocatalytic oxidation activity due to the conducive separation and migration of free radical carriers on this crystal plane, which promoted the photocatalytic reaction. This suggests that exposing dominant crystal planes can improve photocatalyst activity for environmental purification applications.

One-pot synthesis of S-scheme MoS2/g-C3N4 heterojunction as effective visible light photocatalyst

Ha Tran Huu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates a one-pot solid-state reaction method for preparing MoS2/g-C3N4 composites, with the physicochemical characterization revealing varying component contents at different synthesis temperatures. Composites synthesized at 500 degrees Celsius showed the highest photocatalytic performance, degrading Rhodamine B with an efficiency of 90%, attributed to enhanced light-harvesting and extended charge carriers' lifetime in the composites. The photocatalytic mechanism follows the S-scheme pathway with clear evidences.
