Hybrid Interfacial Transition Zone between Wet-On-Wet Casted Concrete-Microstructure and Mechanical Properties

Interfacial microstructure between ultrahigh-performance concrete-normal concrete in fresh-on-fresh casting

Summary: This study aims to characterize the bond behavior and micro-properties of the fresh-on-fresh cast interface of ultrahigh-performance concrete-normal concrete layers, and compare it with a fresh-on-harden cast interface. The results show that the bonding strength of the fresh-on-fresh cast interface is 138% higher than that of the fresh-on-harden cast interface. The interface zone is formed by the intimate contact and staggered growth of the two types of concrete, and it exhibits gradual variation of porosity and local indentation modulus.

Effects of fibers on the mechanical properties of UHPC: A review

Summary: This paper reviews the effects of fiber reinforcement on the mechanical properties of Ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC). It discusses the research methodology, prediction of mechanical properties, and the parameters of steel fibers affecting the mechanical properties. The positive and negative effects of fibers on UHPC should be considered, and the development of technology to maintain flowability with high fiber content is important. Hybrid fibers can efficiently enhance UHPC. Further investigation on the combined effects of fiber parameters is recommended.
