Optimal group-buying price strategy considering the information-sharing of the seller and buyers in social e-commerce

Lei Guan et al.

Summary: This article examines the optimal pricing decisions under different scenarios of product information-sharing between sellers and buyers, extending the model to situations where the unit cost of information-sharing is nonlinear. The study finds that sellers are more likely to share information themselves when the cost is low or the cost function is quadratic, but may not always choose to act first when both the seller and informed buyer share information together. The GBP strategy is preferred by sellers when the information gap between buyers is moderate.

Marketplace or reselling: the pricing decisions and face value of the coupons under the Cap-and-Trade regulation

Xiaoping Xu et al.

Summary: This paper examines the optimal decisions, selection, and coordination for a manufacturer selling products in either the marketplace or reselling mode under cap-and-trade regulation. The findings reveal that the cap and platform power affect the production quantities for coupon-sensitive and coupon-insensitive consumers differently, and the marketplace mode's profitability depends on the order-fulfillment cost. Moreover, the reselling mode can coordinate the manufacturer and platform, leading to Pareto improvement with a two-part tariff contract.
