Effects of a Household Air Pollution Intervention with Liquefied Petroleum Gas on Cardiopulmonary Outcomes in Peru A Randomized Controlled Trial

William Checkley et al.

Summary: A study was conducted in rural Puno, Peru involving 180 women aged 25-64 to determine the impact of an intervention using Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) on cardiopulmonary health outcomes. Despite high adherence to LPG stove usage in the intervention group, there were no significant differences in blood pressure, lung function, or respiratory symptoms compared to the control group over a 1-year period.

Examining the willingness-to-pay for exclusive use of LPG for cooking among rural households in India

Namrata Chindarkar et al.

Summary: The study finds that awareness about the health benefits of LPG and its diffusion within the community are the strongest determinants of willingness-to-pay for exclusive use of LPG. Household size is correlated with willingness-to-pay, and households with irregular cash flows are less likely to pay for exclusive use of LPG. Additionally, higher household expenditure on purchased biomass is positively associated with willingness-to-pay.

Why energy access is not enough for choosing clean cooking fuels? Evidence from the multinomial logit model

Zhanna Kapsalyamova et al.

Summary: The transition to sustainable energy requires assessing the drivers of clean and dirty fuel use. Access to clean fuel is important for switching from dirty fuels, but doesn't guarantee a complete transition. Results show that access to natural gas increases the likelihood of choosing clean fuels.
