P-coumaric acid ameliorates fipronil induced liver injury in mice through attenuation of structural changes, oxidative stress and inflammation

Sonam Sarita Bal et al.

Summary: Fipronil is a broad-spectrum insecticide that poses a significant threat to humans and animals due to its widespread use and bioaccumulation in the environment. P-coumaric acid, a natural compound, has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can ameliorate fipronil-induced liver injury by reducing inflammatory cytokines, oxidative stress, and improving antioxidant enzyme levels and structural changes.

Que Zui tea ameliorates hepatic lipid accumulation and oxidative stress in high fat diet induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

Jin-Ke Zhang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that hot water and aqueous-ethanol extracts from Que Zui tea have protective effects on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The extracts reduced body weight, improved lipid profile, decreased liver lipid accumulation, enhanced antioxidant activity, and regulated fatty acid metabolism. These findings suggest that the extracts have the potential for the prevention and treatment of NAFLD.

Highland barley Monascus purpureus Went extract ameliorates high-fat, high-fructose, high-cholesterol diet induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease by regulating lipid metabolism in golden hamsters

Cui-Zhu Zhao et al.

Summary: The study showed that HBMPWE could ameliorate dyslipidemia, weight gain, and liver index elevation induced by HFFCD in NAFLD golden hamster model. HBMPWE treatment significantly reduced lipid accumulation in the liver and modulated lipid metabolism through multiple pathways and targets. These findings suggest that HBMPWE may be considered as a functional food for treating NAFLD and other lipid metabolic disorders.

Amelioration of radiation-induced liver damage by p-coumaric acid in mice

Yun-Hong Li et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the hepatoprotective effect of p-coumaric acid (CA) against radiation-induced liver damage (RILD). The results showed that CA improved liver morphology, decreased serum liver function indicators, inhibited apoptosis-related protein expression, and improved hematopoietic function in mice. A dose of 100 mg/kg body weight of CA showed the best effect.

Bioactive synergism between zinc mineral and p-coumaric acid: A multi-mode glycemic control and antioxidative study

Limpho M. Ramorobi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the complexation-mediated synergistic interaction between zinc(II) and p-coumaric acid in the management of diabetes and oxidative stress. The results showed that the complex formed by zinc(II) and p-coumaric acid was more effective in antioxidant and antihyperglycemic activities compared to p-coumaric acid alone. The complex exhibited strong inhibitory effects on lipid peroxidation and GSH depletion, and enhanced glucose uptake and hexokinase activity. These findings suggest that zinc(II) complexation may be an important approach in improving the application potential of p-coumaric acid in the management of diabetes and oxidative stress.
