New machine learning scoring system for predicting postoperative mortality in gastroduodenal ulcer perforation: A study using a Japanese nationwide inpatient database

Takaaki Konishi et al.

Summary: This study developed machine learning models and an integer-based risk score for predicting postoperative mortality in gastroduodenal ulcer perforation. The validation results showed that these models had significantly higher prediction abilities than the conventional American Society of Anesthesiology score. According to the integer-based score, patients could be classified into low, moderate, high, and very high-risk groups.
