Elevation of TRPV1 expression on T-cells during experimental immunosuppression

P. Sanjai Kumar et al.

Summary: This study found that TRPV1 expression is significantly increased during immunosuppression, compared to activated T cells. Furthermore, calcium levels are also increased, and can be downregulated by a TRPV1 inhibitor, suggesting an important role of TRPV1 in immune activation and immunosuppression.

RSV infection potentiates TRPV1-mediated calcium transport in bronchial epithelium of asthmatic children

Terri J. Harford et al.

Summary: The study found that children with asthma have increased TRPV1 protein expression in HBE, primarily localized to the cell membrane. During RSV infection, asthmatic children showed a greater increase in TRPV1-mediated intracellular Ca2+, exacerbated by NGF overexpression. This suggests that airway hyperreactivity in children with asthma may be partially attributed to higher TRPV1-mediated Ca2+ influx and exacerbated by NGF during RSV infection.

Inhibition of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channel regulates chikungunya virus infection in macrophages

Sanjai P. Kumar et al.

Summary: CHIKV infection upregulates TRPV1 expression in macrophages, with TRPV1 inhibition leading to a reduction in infection and activation significantly enhancing infection. Functional modulation of TRPV1 affects early stages of the viral lifecycle in RAW 264.7 cells during CHIKV infection.
