Machine learning prediction of lignin content in poplar with Raman spectroscopy

Wenli Gao et al.

Summary: Based on extracted features from Raman spectra, prediction models for lignin content in poplar were developed using regularization algorithms (SVR, DT, RF, LightGBM, CatBoost, and XGBoost). The results showed that RF, LightGBM, CatBoost, and XGBoost outperformed the other algorithms, with test R-2 values >0.91, indicating close prediction to measured values.

Adulteration detection of Sudan Red and metanil yellow in turmeric powder by NIR spectroscopy and chemometrics: The role of preprocessing methods in analysis

Rasool Khodabakhshian et al.

Summary: This study aimed to classify and quantify two major adulterants in turmeric powder using near-infrared spectroscopy and chemometric models. The results showed that the combination of standard normal variate transformation, median filter, and first derivative performed the best in preprocessing the spectral data. The established models accurately determined the authenticity of turmeric powder and predicted the level of adulteration.

Easy-to-Use Visual Sensing System for Milk Freshness, Sensitized with Acidity-Responsive N-Doped Carbon Quantum Dots

Xuetao Hu et al.

Summary: This study developed a flexible and eye-readable sensing system using acidity-responsive N-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs) for milk freshness detection. The linear relationship between the milk acidity and the fluorescence intensity of N-CQDs was established, and a fluorescence sensor was designed to provide eye-readable signals under UV light. A fluorescence colorimetric card was developed to assess milk freshness deterioration.

EFFECTS OF MICROWAVE ROASTING TIME ON PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES AND SENSORY EVALUATION OF GERMINATED RED BROWN RICE MILK

Tuan Quoc Le et al.

Summary: The study found that shorter microwave heating time increases protein and reducing sugar content in the product. Microwave heating significantly affects the viscosity of milk, but insignificantly influences the color, pH, and TSS values of milk. Microwave roasting for 3 minutes provided a comparable total acceptance score in sensory evaluation compared to traditional heating.
