Designing a sustainable-resilient disaster waste management system under hybrid uncertainty: A case study

Zakie Mamashli et al.

Summary: The research investigates disaster waste management problem by proposing a multi-objective mathematical model to minimize costs, environmental impacts, and transportation risks while maximizing social impacts and resilience. A real-world case study is conducted in Iran, and transportation risks are calculated using the FMEA method, with the proposed model solved by a hybrid algorithm based on multi-choice goal programming and PSO. Sensitivity analyses on important model parameters are performed, showcasing the efficiency and performance of the model and hybrid algorithm.

Optimisation of wste clean-up after large-scale disasters

Cheng Cheng et al.

Summary: This paper discusses disaster waste clean-up after large disasters in the recovery stage of disaster management and develops a multi-objective mixed integer programming model to minimize the total clean-up cost and time. Experimental results show that the model can obtain close to optimal solutions within an acceptable computing time.

The two-echelon production routing problem with cross-docking satellites

Yuzhuo Qiu et al.

Summary: This paper presents a mixed integer programming model for the two-echelon production routing problem with cross-docking satellites, demonstrating a branch-and-cut algorithm and a matheuristic approach for solving it. Extensive computational results are provided, derived from benchmarks for production routing problems and two echelon vehicle routing problems. Insights on dynamic balance among handling costs, inventory costs, and routing costs are drawn from sensitivity analysis.

A NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF DISASTER WASTE DISPOSAL IN WAKAYAMA CITY BY USING DHT MODEL

Soichiro Asai et al.

Summary: A numerical simulation of disaster waste disposal was conducted using a DHT model to identify hindering factors in the execution of a waste management plan. Sensitivity analysis revealed that enhancing crushing/classification functions at temporary storage sites could potentially reduce processing time for disaster waste disposal.
