Tao Tang et al.

Summary: A series of low-crystalline bimetallic Fe/Ce-MOFs were synthesized for the first time via dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma, with Fe significantly altering the structural coordination of Ce-MOFs. The Fe/Ce-MOFs exhibited rich active sites and oxygen defects, which allowed for effective photogenerated electron concentration and separation. Among them, Fe/Ce-MOFs-2 demonstrated excellent photocatalytic activity, degrading methyl orange with a rate of 93% within 30 minutes under visible light, due to its relatively narrow band gap and low recombination rate of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. The efficient and economical strategy of utilizing DBD plasma may pave the way for the preparation of other low-crystalline bimetallic MOFs with outstanding performance.
