An experimental investigation on the effect of incorporating graphene nanoplatelets on the low-velocity impact behavior of fiber metal laminates

Azadeh Fathi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that incorporating 0.2 wt% of graphene nanoplatelets significantly improves the impact resistance of fiber metal laminates, enhancing adhesion between resin/fibers and composite plies, reducing damage area, and increasing penetration threshold. Additionally, reinforcing composite panels considerably enhances impact behavior compared to unmodified composites.

Tensile behaviour of titanium-based carbon-fibre/epoxy laminate

Jing Sun et al.

Summary: The study investigated the tensile behavior of titanium-based carbon-fibre/epoxy laminates (TI-CF FMLs) under quasi-static loading, analyzing twelve different configurations of FMLs and their constituent materials in a comprehensive experimental study. Through a parametric study, the effects of metal types, volume fractions, and fiber orientations on the specific tensile performance of TI-CF FMLs were investigated, providing more insights into the design of TI-CF FMLs under tension.

Numerical and experimental investigation on the oblique successive impact behavior and accumulated damage characteristics of fiber metal laminates

Lu Yao et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the dynamic response and accumulated damage characteristics of FML under successive impact loads through experimental tests and numerical modeling. The study demonstrates the impact behavior, failure mechanisms, and damage tolerance of FML under different impact angles. Results show an enhancement in stiffness and damage tolerance of FML after the first impact, with different impact angles affecting the response and damage characteristics.
