Laser reshaping of gold nanoparticles for highly sensitive SERS detection of ciprofloxacin

Ao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the laser reshaping of gold plates to generate particles with different size and shape, which are then used for highly sensitive label-free surface-enhanced Raman scattering detection. The nanosecond and femtosecond lasers can reshape the gold particles into spherical-hexagonal and spherical/triangle shapes respectively, enhancing the Raman signal and achieving a low detection limit for ciprofloxacin sensing. The ultrafast laser reshaping of gold nanoparticles has potential applications in plasmonic enhanced sensing for convenient biomaterial detection.
