Epidemiology, risk factors, treatment and outcome ofCandidabloodstream infections because ofCandida albicansandCandidanon-albicans in two district general hospitals in the United Kingdom

Nadeem Sajjad Raja

Summary: This study investigated the epidemiology, risk factors, comorbidities, antifungal treatment, and outcomes of candidemia in East Sussex Healthcare Trust (ESHT), England. It found that non-albicans Candida species predominated (55%) and showed resistance to fluconazole. The main sources of candidemia were intravascular lines and urinary tracts for non-albicans Candida.

Antifungal Activity of the Extract of a Macroalgae, Gracilariopsis persica, against Four Plant Pathogenic Fungi

Latifeh Pourakbar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the chemical composition and antifungal activity of Gracilariopsis persica, revealing rich phenolic compounds such as rosmarinic acid and quercetin, which exhibited antifungal effects. Experimental results showed that the extract of G. persica had inhibitory effects on the growth of four plant pathogenic fungi at higher concentrations, suggesting potential use as a natural antifungal agent.
