Ion current rectification in asymmetric charged bilayer nanochannels

Zheng Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the ion current rectification (ICR) performance in bilayer nanochannels with non-uniform charge distribution. The researchers established an ion transport model using the coupled Poisson-Nernst-Planck (PNP) equations. Different configurations of bilayer nanochannels are compared, and it is found that surface charge is necessary for inducing ICR. The study also discusses the factors that can enhance ICR performance, such as regulating surface charge density, geometry parameters, and ion concentration.

Influence of Asymmetric Geometry on the Ion Transport of Tandem Nanochannels

Zeng-Qiang Wu et al.

Summary: The study showed that the structure of asymmetric tandem nanochannels significantly influences ion distribution, leading to different conductance profiles in the nanochannel at open and close states. Further research is needed in this area to understand the implications of tandem nanochannel structures on ion transport.
