Effect of flow rate and SiO2 nanoparticle on dynamic corrosion behavior of stainless steels in molten salt for thermal energy storage

Lina Ma et al.

Summary: The study compared the corrosion behaviors of 304 and 316L stainless steels in QNN molten salt with SiO2 nanoparticles and different flow rates. The results showed that the corrosion of specimens with nanoparticles was lower than those without in QNN. Flow rate had little effect on the types of oxidation products, but influenced the corrosion weight loss differently at various speeds.

Summary: Different types of nanoparticles were studied for their effects on the thermophysical properties of molten salt nanocomposites. The addition of SiO2 nanoparticles resulted in the highest increase in specific heat and total heat storage density. Network nanostructures were observed in the molten salt nanocomposite doped with SiO2.
