The incorporation of molecular building blocks allows for the synthesis of organic materials with designable properties. Specifically, 2D pi-conjugated COFs (2D-c-COFs) offer extended pi-conjugations and porous channels for electron transport and catalysis.

Highly active ultrafine Pd NPs confined in imine-linked COFs for nitrobenzene hydrogenation

Chunzhi Li et al.

Summary: The preparation and stabilization of ultrafine metal nanoparticles (NPs) are challenging but important. In this study, ultrafine Pd NPs were successfully stabilized on an imine-linked covalent organic framework (COF), showing high catalytic activity in hydrogenation. The COF demonstrated superior stability and prevented aggregation of the ultrafine Pd NPs.

Introducing reticular chemistry into agrochemistry

Da-Wen Sun et al.

Summary: Agrochemistry is the core engine driving the evolution of modern agriculture, but inefficient use of chemical technologies has led to socio-ecological consequences. Therefore, the development of more productive, precise, and sustainable agricultural tools is needed. Reticular chemistry, especially MOFs and COFs, with their flexible composition, structure, and pore chemistry, can introduce more functionality into the field of agrochemistry.

Emergent electrochemical functions and future opportunities of hierarchically constructed metal-organic frameworks and covalent organic frameworks

Yosuke Hara et al.

Summary: Designing spatial and architectural features across different scales is a crucial topic in materials science, with a focus on the effects of porous structures on mass transport phenomena. While significant progress has been made in traditional inorganic materials, such as ceramics, the mechanistic understanding of spatial features at the molecular level remains limited in the field of electrochemical reactions. Further research on well-defined architectures is essential for advancements in next-generation energy devices.
