Microkinetic study of NO oxidation, standard and fast NH3-SCR on CeWOx at low temperatures

Kuo Liu et al.

Summary: A comprehensive microkinetic model was established for NO oxidation, standard SCR and fast SCR on CeWOx at low temperatures, revealing different rate-limiting steps and reaction orders for different reactions. The mechanisms of standard and fast SCR were found to be similar, with the reaction between nitrites and adsorbed NH3 playing a key role in NOx conversion. The activation energy of fast SCR was higher due to the reaction between NO and NH4NO3, but more nitrites and NH4NO3 led to higher activity for fast SCR compared to standard SCR.

Enhanced performance of iron-cerium NOx reduction catalysts by sulfuric acid treatment: The synergistic effect of surface acidity and redox capacity

Yanping Ma et al.

Summary: CeO2-based catalysts have garnered attention in the selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH3, but their poor T-90 operation window hinders industrial application. A study introducing sulfuric acid treatment to FeOx-CeO2 mixed oxides for NH3-SCR showed significantly improved high temperature activity and broadened operation window, attributed to increased redox capacity and surface acidity. This enhancement in performance was associated with the synergistic effect of these two parameters, favoring the formation of active intermediate species for N2 generation and inhibiting the formation of N2O and NOx, resulting in high catalytic activity and N2 selectivity.
