Enhanced propanol gas sensing performance of p-type NiO gas sensor induced by exceptionally large surface area and crystallinity

Summary: This study investigated the influence of large surface area and crystallinity of p-type NiO nanostructures on propanol sensing characteristics. Different preparation methods were compared, and the NiO-based sensor derived from urea precursor exhibited significantly improved sensing response, higher sensitivity, ultra-low theoretical detection limit, and excellent selectivity towards propanol vapour. The high sensitivity and selectivity of NiO-based sensors for propanol detection show promising potential.

Multilayer porous Pd-doped SnO2 thin film: Preparation and H2 sensing performance

Synthesis of tin dioxide (SnO2) hollow nanospheres and its ethanol-sensing performance augmented by gold nanoparticle decoration

Summary: Ethanol sensors with superior performance were fabricated using Au nanoparticles decorated SnO2 hollow nanospheres (Au-SnO2 HNS). The ethanol-sensing response of SnO2 HNS improved 2.7 times when exposed to 100 ppm ethanol gas measured at 250 degrees C, showing selective sensing response towards ethanol gas compared to other VOC gases. The improved sensing properties were attributed to the optimized morphologies of the sensing materials and the catalytic effect of the Au nanoparticles.
