Survey of Exposure to RF Electromagnetic Fields in the Connected Car

Gabriella Tognola et al.

Summary: This paper is the first comprehensive survey on electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure generated by various connectivity technologies in cars. By describing each technology and comparing past research results, it is found that EMF exposure in cars using these technologies has never exceeded safe limits.

Active Huygens' Box: Arbitrary Electromagnetic Wave Generation With an Electronically Controlled Metasurface

Alex M. H. Wong et al.

Summary: This work explores the generation of arbitrary electromagnetic waveforms within a geometrical area enclosed by an active metasurface, introducing the concept of a Huygens' box. By controlling electronic excitations, the study demonstrates the generation of various types of waves inside metallic cavities using a reconfigurable metasurface. The research showcases the potential for subwavelength superoscillation focal spots without involving evanescent EM waves or excessive waveform energy.
