A kilohertz bandwidth and sensitive scalar atomic magnetometer using an optical multipass cell

Shuguang Li et al.

Summary: This study presents a high-frequency ultraweak magnetic field measurement method using a scalar rubidium atomic magnetometer. The Faraday rotation signal is enhanced by a simplified optical multipass cell. By employing continuous or burst sampling mode and precise control pulse sequences, high contrast atomic spin projection noise and free induction decay signals were observed.

Search for axion-like dark matter with spin-based amplifiers

Min Jiang et al.

Summary: This study reports on the search for axion-like dark matter using a quantum sensor with enhanced potential signals. By utilizing hyperpolarized long-lived nuclear spins as pre-amplifiers, the study achieved ultrahigh magnetic sensitivity and constrained the parameter space of interactions between nucleons and axion-like particles. The experiment significantly improved on previous laboratory constraints and exceeded bounds from astrophysical observations.

Squeezed-Light Enhancement and Backaction Evasion in a High Sensitivity Optically Pumped Magnetometer

C. Troullinou et al.

Summary: The study examines the impact of optical polarization squeezing on the performance of an optically pumped magnetometer, demonstrating that probe polarization squeezing improves high-frequency sensitivity and increases measurement bandwidth while avoiding measurement backaction noise. The research provides a model for the dynamics of quantum noise in the magnetometer, showing how polarization squeezing reduces optical noise and shunts measurement backaction into the unmeasured spin component.

Submillimeter-resolution magnetic field imaging with digital micromirror device and atomic vapor cell

Chen Liu et al.

Summary: Magnetic field source localization and imaging can occur at various scales, from meters to nanometers. By using an atomic vapor cell and techniques such as free induction decay (FID) and digital micromirror devices, researchers have demonstrated the ability to measure magnetic fields with high accuracy and sensitivity. By applying different currents in coils and analyzing FID signals, they were able to calculate residual and coil-generated fields, showing potential for 3D magnetography with outstanding spatial resolution, sensitivity, and dynamic range.

Improving the sensitivity of an optically pumped rubidium atomic magnetometer by using of a repumping laser beam

Zhang Lu-Lu et al.

Summary: In this study, an experimental optically pumped atomic magnetometer was implemented, utilizing different rubidium atomic vapor cells, temperature variations, and repumping lasers to optimize the magnetic resonance signal. The introduction of a 780-nm repumping laser significantly improved the signal amplitude of rubidium-85 magnetic resonance signal and kept the linewidth stable, enhancing the sensitivity by roughly one order of magnitude. The enhanced rubidium magnetic resonance signal was also used to calibrate the measurement accuracy and deviation of a commercial fluxgate magnetometer.
