Molecular characterization of leaf senescence-associated autophagy genes in postharvest Chinese flowering cabbage and identifying their transcriptional activator BrMYB108

Ze-xiang Zeng et al.

Summary: This study identified 53 ATG genes in Chinese flowering cabbage, three of which were strongly up-regulated during postharvest leaf senescence. It also discovered a MYB transcriptional factor, BrMYB108, which directly binds to the promoters of these ATG genes and enhances their expression, acting as a potential positive regulator of postharvest leaf senescence in Chinese flowering cabbage.

Phosphorylation of ATG18a by BAK1 suppresses autophagy and attenuates plant resistance against necrotrophic pathogens

Bao Zhang et al.

Summary: It was found that phosphorylation of ATG18a suppresses autophagosome formation, reducing autophagy activity and compromising plant resistance against necrotrophic pathogens. Additionally, BAK1 was identified to physically interact with and phosphorylate ATG18a, providing insights into how plants regulate autophagy during resistance against necrotrophic pathogens.

Nitrate reductase is required for salicylic acid-induced water stress tolerance of pepper by upraising theAsA-GSHpathway and glyoxalase system

Cengiz Kaya

Summary: The study revealed that nitrate reductase (NR) plays a significant role in salicylic acid (SA)-enhanced water stress tolerance in pepper plants, and the synergistic effect of nitrate reductase and nitric oxide (NO) has positive impacts on plant resilience under drought conditions.

Effects of exogenous methyl jasmonate on quality and preservation of postharvest fruits: A review

Su-Yan Wang et al.

Summary: Methyl jasmonate (MeJA) is a volatile hormone that acts as a signal in response to external stresses in plants. It has been shown to enhance fruit antioxidant capacity and phenolics content, leading to extended shelf-life, improved quality, and reduced chilling injury. Additionally, postharvest application of MeJA can alter volatiles pattern and enhance the innate disease resistance of fruits against pathogenic fungi.
