Acute temperature adaptation mechanisms in the native reptile species Eremias argus

Summary: In this study, the molecular regulation mechanisms of lizards in response to acute temperature changes were investigated using transcriptome and metabolome technology. The research identified CIRBP and HSPA8 as hub genes for temperature adaptation. The increased expression of the PER gene was associated with tyrosine metabolism. Thermal stress led to a significant increase in poly-unsaturated fatty acids in the liver of female lizards, accompanied by up-regulation of FASN and ACACA genes. Cortisol and testosterone were important steroid hormones in response to temperature changes, especially in the liver of male lizards. Furthermore, the study found that increased expression of the CIRBP gene in lizard gonads suppressed the KDM6B gene, which may induce sex reversal in male lizards after thermal stress.

New evidence for neurobehavioral toxicity of deltamethrin at environmentally relevant levels in zebrafish

Summary: This study investigated the neurobehavioral changes in adult zebrafish exposed to environmentally relevant levels of deltamethrin, a widely used insecticide. The results showed that deltamethrin exposure increased swimming speeds, residence time near other fish, and shoaling cohesion in zebrafish. Transcriptomic analysis revealed disruptions in neural functions related to glutamatergic and dopaminergic synapses in the brain. The measurement of neurotransmitters confirmed an increase in glutamate content. These findings suggest that deltamethrin exposure can lead to hyperactivity of social behaviors in adult zebrafish by increasing glutamate levels and promoting its release.
