Insights into structural, thermal, electrical and mechanical properties of copper alumina reinforced chlorinated natural rubber nanocomposites

K. Parvathi et al.

Summary: This research aimed to fabricate low-cost and highly durable conducting rubber products by incorporating copper alumina nanocomposites into chlorinated natural rubber. The results showed that the addition of nanoparticles significantly improved the electrical conductivity and hardness, while reducing the elongation at break and resilience. These improvements are important for the design of flexible flame retardant electronic devices, electromagnetic induction shielding, and conducting adhesive materials.

Enhanced optical, thermal and electrical properties of chlorinated natural rubber/zinc ferrite nanocomposites for flexible electrochemical devices

K. Parvathi et al.

Summary: This work investigates the optical, thermal stability, and temperature-dependent electrical properties of chlorinated natural rubber/zinc ferrite nanocomposites. The insertion of zinc ferrite into the rubber matrix leads to a decrease in bandgap energy. The nanocomposites exhibit enhanced thermal stability and electrical properties compared to the parent polymer. Additionally, the conductivity of the nanocomposites shows a non-ohmic behavior, indicating a dynamic relaxation process. The experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical models, suggesting the presence of interfacial interactions in the nanocomposites. These findings are significant for the development of highly-durable flexible electronic devices, actuators, supercapacitors, and elastomeric pressure sensors.

Compliant materials based on nickel oxide/chlorinated natural rubber nanocomposites

K. Parvathi et al.

Summary: This research article focuses on the preparation of chlorinated natural rubber (Cl-NR)/nickel oxide (NiO) nanocomposites using a simple and environmentally friendly two-roll mill mixing technique. The study demonstrates that increasing the nanofiller content improves the crystallinity, dispersion, glass transition temperature, and mechanical properties of the nanocomposites. In addition, the nanocomposites show higher AC conductivity, dielectric loss, and dielectric constant compared to pure Cl-NR. The incorporation of the nanofiller also reduces the cure time, making the fabrication of rubber products more cost-effective. The study suggests that the nanocomposites with 5 phr NiO loading exhibit the best mechanical and electrical properties and can be used for the fabrication of electromagnetic induction shielding materials, conducting adhesives, and flame-resistant flexible electronic devices.

Synthesis, characterization, conductivity, and gas-sensing performance of copolymer nanocomposites based on copper alumina and poly(aniline-co-pyrrole)

S. Sankar et al.

Summary: A series of copolymer nanocomposites based on poly(aniline-co-pyrrole) with different contents of copper alumina nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized. The presence and dispersion of nanoparticles in the copolymer matrix were confirmed, and the flexibility of the polymer was reduced with an increase in glass transition temperature. The nanocomposites exhibited increased hopping of charge carriers and excellent gas sensing properties. These nanocomposites have the potential for developing nano-electronic devices.

Summary: A green and powerful strategy for preparing CNC/GO/NR nanocomposites with a 3D hierarchical conductive network was reported. The CNC/GO nanohybrids, with enhanced stability due to hydrogen bonding interactions, significantly improved electrical conductivity and mechanical properties of the nanocomposites. The nanocomposite with 4 wt% GO and 5 wt% CNC exhibited a nine orders of magnitude increase in electrical conductivity compared to the nanocomposite with only 4 wt% GO.
