Characterization, Antistatic Treatment and Spinnability of Bio-based Polyamide 5,6 Staple Fibers

Jia-qing Wu et al.

Summary: A new type of bio-based polyamide 5,6 (PA56) fiber was synthesized from adipic acid and 1,5-pentanediamine. The study investigated the characteristics, antistatic treatment, mechanical properties, moisture absorption, and spinnability of the PA56 staple fibers. Results showed that antistatic-treated PA56 fibers exhibited improved conductivity, leading to higher efficiency in carding and spinning. Additionally, Siro-spun yarn showed superior properties compared to Ring yarn in terms of tensile strength, unevenness, hairiness, and abrasion resistance.

Process-Property Relationships for Melt-Spun Poly(lactic acid) Yarn

Chirag R. Gajjar et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that by optimizing the melt-spinning process parameters, the desired properties of PLA yarn can be achieved while controlling process-induced premature degradation. Different combinations of specific process parameters can result in variations in yarn size, tenacity, elongation at break, crystallinity, and also impact the reduction in molecular weight.
