Anisotropic mechano-adaptive cavitation in elastomers for unclonable covert-overt anti-counterfeiting

Huaixia Zhao et al.

Summary: Mechano-responsive structural coloration is a valuable tool for information encryption due to its easy visualization and authentication procedure. This study presents the development of an anisotropic photonic elastomer that changes its transparency in response to directional mechanical stimuli. By adjusting its structural parameters and fabrication process, the mechano-sensitivity and direction-selectivity of the elastomer can be tuned. The elastomer can be used as an anti-counterfeiting device by encoding complex labels using the 3D localization of creases, providing high-level security through hierarchical authentication mechanisms.

Wholly Biobased, Highly Stretchable, Hydrophobic, and Self-healing Thermoplastic Elastomer

Yeyen Nurhamiyah et al.

Summary: The wholly biobased, self-healing polyamide-based thermoplastic elastomer synthesized using a fatty dimer acid and a fatty dimer amine exhibits superior stretchability, high toughness, and excellent shape recovery. Its outstanding properties are attributed to the highly entangled main chain, multiple dangling chains, reversible physical bonds, intermolecular diffusion, and low ratio of amide to methylene group within the elastomer.
