Compatibilization, processing and characterization of poly(butylene adipate terephthalate)/polylactide (PBAT/PLA) blends

Shen Su

Summary: This study aims to prepare a cost-effective PBAT/PLA blend and process it into blown films by fine-tuning the processing parameters. The addition of a catalyst masterbatch and the adjustment of parameter settings significantly improve the material properties, resulting in blown films with a higher degree of isotropy.

Self-Nucleation of β-Form Isotactic Polypropylene Lamellar Crystals in Thin Films

Binghua Wang et al.

Summary: The self-nucleation behavior of beta-form isotactic polypropylene crystals in ultrathin films was studied, revealing a decrease in nucleation density with increasing self-nucleation temperature and heating rate, and a faster growth of alpha-iPP compared to beta-iPP. The high-temperature beta alpha growth transition was found to be absent in this system, indicating a lower free energy barrier for secondary alpha alpha and beta beta nucleation in ultrathin films.

Time-Resolved SAXS/WAXD under Tensile Deformation: Role of Segmental Ethylene-Propylene Copolymers in Impact-Resistant Polypropylene Copolymers

Wonchalerm Rungswang et al.

Summary: The structural evolution of impact-resistant polypropylene copolymers was investigated under tensile deformation, revealing the role of interfacial adhesion in improving the failure resistance. Higher P content in segmental ethylene-propylene copolymers led to longer elongation at break ratios, indicating enhanced interfacial adhesion between the ethylene-propylene random copolymer and homo polypropylene phases. This study highlights the importance of interfacial adhesion in enhancing the mechanical properties of polypropylene copolymers.
